Cold laser therapy was added to our practice in 2018 and has revolutionized our care. We see amazing improvement in our patient’s pain and function after their cold laser treatments. Often those changes are immediate.
What is cold laser therapy?
Cold lasers produce light in a specific wavelength instead of the full spectrum light (all wavelengths) that comes from the sun. Our cold laser uses the wavelength of 650 (red laser) as well as 780 (near infrared laser). Cold lasers are usually hand held devices that, unlike surgical lasers, do not heat the targeted tissues.
How does cold laser therapy work?
Cold laser therapy penetrates into the cells of the body and improves the energy production at the cellular level. The cells can use the increased energy to produce a healing affect in the surrounding tissues. The way cold laser therapy works is similar to how plants absorb the energy from sunlight to cause the plant to grow (photosynthesis).
What does laser help?
We have seen improvement in a wide variety of health problems using cold laser therapy in our office, including headaches, back and neck pain, whiplash injuries, arthritis, extremity joint pain and limited range of motion, surgical scar related muscle weakness and limited range of motion, wound healing, digestive problems, sinus issues, and brain fog. There are peer reviewed journal articles being added almost weekly regarding new and exciting health conditions that can be treated with cold laser.
