Betz Chiropractic & Wellness: COVID-19
COVID-19
I know that you all are thinking about what you should be doing about the current COVID-19 situation. We are currently open and accepting patients. We want to encourage you that 1. we are taking necessary steps to protect you during your visit to our office and 2. we want to empower you with steps that you can take to support a healthy immune system.
What we are doing at Betz Chiropractic & Wellness to protect you.
The COVID-19 virus is likely to cause only mild symptoms in most of us, but it is important that we all do our part in preventing its spread. We have implemented new measures to minimize the risk of communicable viruses such as COVID-19, the flu, and the common cold.
CLEANING AT Betz Chiropractic & Wellness:
We are sanitizing or thoroughly washing hands between each patient. We will be thorough in cleaning the rooms, including adjustment table and face rest after every patient visit as well as cleaning furniture and doorknobs multiple times per day to reduce risk of exposure. As always, our office runs a HEPA air cleaner in the office to minimize airborne particles.
PATIENT SCHEDULING
We are staggering patient appointments so there is significantly less than 10 patients in the office at a time, usually only 2.
VISITING Betz Chiropractic & Wellness:
If you have a fever, we respectfully ask that you not come into our office and consider self-quarantine immediately. Fever is usually the initial presentation of COVID-19 even before the presence of a dry cough.
Please stay home if you have a dry cough, shortness of breath or have had a fever in the past 21 days. We will waive the cancellation fee for illness. Please inform your doctor of your symptoms. Unfortunately, especially in light of studies showing that chiropractic boosts the immune system, if you have a cold you shouldn’t come in.
Please wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water upon arrival. We will also have hand sanitizer available at the front desk and in the treatment and exam rooms.
If you become exposed to anyone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19, we humbly ask that you not come in, (and consider self-quarantine) for 21 days. While many are advising 14 days, there are cases of people spreading it up to 21 days.
We understand that there are those, that due to risk factor such as age, immune compromise, or breathing issues, who will choose to push out their appointments. Know that we will be missing anyone who decides to stay home and will be so happy to see you again after your break!!
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO STRENGTHEN YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM
WASH YOUR HANDS
Basic and simple. It works and you should do it. Wash with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds.
GET CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS
Studies have shown that chiropractic adjustments boost the immune system. So, get your regular adjustments! Chiropractic: Feel better. Move better. Live better.
EAT HEALTHY NOURISHING FOODS.
That probably sounds familiar! Eat a wide variety of fresh and colorful vegetables. Eat healthy fats (avocado, coconut oil, olive oil, wild caught deep water fish, grass fed beef) and quality proteins like fresh eggs, grass-fed beef, wild caught fish, organic chicken and turkey, and wild game. Add in some probiotic rich foods like raw milk yogurt or kefir, kombucha, sauerkraut, and kimchi. Avoid sugar and refined / processed foods.
TAKE EXTRA NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT
Supplements that support the immune system are (but not limited to) vitamin A, C, and D, zinc, echinacea, and elderberry. Dr. Betz’s favorite nutritional support products are Immuplex (Standard Process), Echinacea Premium (MediHerb), Andrographis Complex (MediHeb), Bio D Mulsion Forte (Biotic Research), and Total VirX (Nutri-West). Feel free to contact us if you have questions on specific vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
Shoot for ½ of your body weight in ounces of water each day, spread out over the day, and mostly away from meals.
STAY ACTIVE
Get outside and go for a daily walk. Play with the dog outside. Do some yard work. Be in the fresh air and sun.
SLEEP WELL.
Shut off devices an hour before bed and read something that makes you laugh or that is uplifting. Mediate on scripture verses such as Psalm 23, Psalm 46:1-3 & 10, Philippians 4:6-8, and Hebrews 13:5.
Thanks in advance for your understanding and patience as we navigate implementing best practices during this time. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. Now get outside and enjoy your day!
God bless,
Dr. Betz
